Day 9: No Heat

Well I was trying to milk the bank for utilities. I hadn't switched them over to my name yet and I guess they cut off the gas. Not good when I was planning to start sleeping at the new house tomorrow. Gas company can't come out until Monday at the earliest.

On the plus side, plumbing repairs continue. Of the two second floor bathrooms one has a working shower, no cold water in sink, and a semi-functioning toilet. The other second floor bath has working sink and toilet but not a working shower.

Also got all new appliances delivered today, so that's nice.

Day 2: Before pictures

Well I got locks changed out so I can properly secure the house. Plumber came out and diagnosed plumbing issues. Basically every bathroom needs some level of work, but nothing too bad. Just crazy stuff like some idiot hooking cold water to a hot line serving a bathroom. Tried to change a broken window out with my dad but of course I cracked it just as we were about done.  Here are the before pictures of the house.

This half bath is a closet.  Very tight.  Also, notice how low the ceiling is - it's less than 6 feet.

Day 1. And so it begins....

Put the house under contract in July and just closed today.  The bank clearly painted every room so it looked great, but was hiding plenty of hidden issues.  They did winterize it last winter - in March!  So clearly after the harsh winter was over.  Copper was stolen in the basement and the bank replaced it with pex.  Water is on now, but not functioning in every bathroom.  One busted radiator so far, hopefully it's the only one.  This is the boiler guy opening the wall and ceiling to fix broken radiator pipes.

Money spent on renovations: $0 (so far - I'm scared to get the bill from the boiler guy)
